Fraternity and sorority houses - Fraternity houses and sorority house are houses lived in by fraternities and sororities for members of each organization to live and work together as a whole. In addition to serving as housing, fraternity and sorority houses often also host social gatherings, meetings, and functions that benefit the community.

KPS - The phrase has become a symbol of connectedness and unity of the midshipmen (and alumnus)at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. It is seen by many as being the symbols for the fraternity like nature of the midshipmen, it is said that the midshipman belong to the KPS fraternity/sorority (similar to the Greek fraternities or sororities at other non-Academy schools), but unlike most fraternities or sororities this one includes the whole school not just a small group and thus connects all the midshipmen together.
